Meredith Ventimiglia Named Women’s Soccer MVP

NEW PALTZ, NY — Patchogue resident Meredith Ventimiglia was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team at the school’s annual Athletic Awards Banquet on May 7th.

Ventimiglia, a junior and one of three tri-captains, started all 18 games on defense for the Hawks. She displayed her offensive skills by finishing second on the team in scoring with five points on two goals and an assist.

Ventimiglia scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 overtime victory against St. Joseph’s College-Long Island on October 18th. She also had the Hawks lone goal in a 9-1 loss to State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) foe Brockport on September 27th. She notched her lone assist in a 4-3 loss to SUNYAC rival Potsdam on September 20th.

Ventimiglia, an elementary education major at SUNY New Paltz, is a 2001 graduate of Patchogue-Medford High School where she captained the women’s soccer team for three years and was also a three-year member of the women’s basketball team.
