SUNY New Paltz Outdoor Track and Field Teams Compete at ECAC Divison III Championship

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA — The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams competed at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Williams College over the weekend. The women placed 27th among 52 teams with nine points and the men tied for 53rd out of 54 teams with one point. Williams College took home the women’s team title with 99 points and SUNY Cortland captured the men’s title with 73 points.

In the women’s meet, sophomore Musu Jackson-Buckner (Buffalo, NY) had two top five finishes. She sprinted to a fourth place finish in the 200 meters in a personal best time of 25.12 and placed fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 58.63.

The Hawks men were led by senior Adam Thyberg (Blue Point, NY) who finished eighth in the pole vault by clearing a school record height of 14 feet, 8 3/4 inches.

Junior Josh Moore (Woodburne, NY) and freshman Anthony Bryant (Norwich, NY) each competed in two events. Moore came in 11th in the shot put with a toss of 47 feet, 6 1/4 inches and placed 19th in the hammer throw with a throw of 152 feet, 11 inches. Bryant finished 13th in the 400 meters in a time of 49.76 and was 19th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.77.
