Liz McPartlan Named Softball MVP

NEW PALTZ, NY — Huntington Station native Liz McPartlan was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the SUNY New Paltz softball team at the school’s annual Athletic Awards Banquet on May 7th.

McPartlan, a sophomore first baseman, started all 35 games and was the only player on the team to play every inning.

McPartlan led the Hawks in eight offensive categories, which were average (.315), hits (30), triples (2), runs (11), RBI’s (15), total bases (35), slugging percentage (.368), and on-base percentage (.365). In the field, she committed just four errors in 257 chances for a team-best .984 fielding percentage.

McPartlan had nine multi-hit games including a 4-for-4 effort in the 7-6 loss to Russell Sage College on April 12th. She drove in a season-high three runs in the 7-5 victory over Husson on March 16th.

McPartlan, an elementary education major at SUNY New Paltz, is a 2002 graduate of Walt Whitman High School where she was a four-year member of the softball and cheerleading teams.
