Kerry Farrell Named Women’s Tennis MVP

NEW PALTZ, NY — Rockville Centre resident Kerry Farrell was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team at the school’s annual Athletic Awards Banquet on May 7th.

Farrell, a junior co-captain, was the Hawks number one singles player all season and one half of the number one doubles team. She had an 8-2 record at number one singles (9-2 overall) and a 5-1 record in doubles action with partner Becky Sparacin (7-4 overall).

Farrell was a second team All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selection and was the runner-up in the number one singles flight at the 2003 SUNYAC Championship. In the number one doubles flight, she and Sparacin, who teamed up to win the 2002 SUNYAC title, came up short in their bid to repeat as conference champions by losing in the finals.

In her three years on the team, Farrell has posted a 33-10 singles record and a 32-8 mark in doubles play.

Farrell, a communications major at SUNY New Paltz, is a 2001 graduate of South Side High School where she was a four-year member of the varsity tennis team.
