Kerri Kelty Named Women’s Basketball MVP

NEW PALTZ, NY — Valley Stream native Kerri Kelty was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the SUNY New Paltz women’s basketball team at the school’s annual Athletic Awards Banquet on May 7th.

Kelty, a freshman guard, made an immediate impact for the Hawks the minute she stepped onto the basketball court. She led the team in minutes (34.2 mpg), scoring (9.2 ppg) and assists (3.2 apg).

Kelty was named co-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Player of the Week for the week ending January 11th. She averaged 15.0 points, 5.5 assists, and 2.5 rebounds in a pair of victories.

Kelty notched a double-double with season-highs of 20 points and 10 assists in the 82-76 win over Skidmore College on January 10th.

Kelty, an elementary education major at SUNY New Paltz, is a 2003 graduate of Valley Stream Central High School where she was a three-sport athlete and an all-conference performer in basketball, soccer, and lacrosse.
