Josh Moore Named Men’s Outdoor Track and Field MVP

NEW PALTZ, NY — Woodburne native Josh Moore was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the SUNY New Paltz men’s outdoor track and field team for the second straight year at the school’s annual Athletic Awards Banquet on May 7th.

Moore, a junior thrower, captured the 2004 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship in the shot put with a toss of 48 feet, 5 ΒΌ inches. He also finished third in the hammer throw with a throw of 150 feet, 11 inches. Moore was the conference’s indoor shot put champion in 2003.

Moore’s throw of 15.73 meters in the shot put at the Kings Point Invitational on April 10th was an NCAA provisional qualifying throw. Moore also qualified in both the shot put and hammer throw at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship this weekend.

Moore, a chemistry major at SUNY New Paltz, is a 2001 graduate of Fallsburg High School.
