John Hauser Named Men’s Basketball MVP

NEW PALTZ, NY — East Williston resident John Hauser was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team at the school’s annual Athletic Awards Banquet on May 7th.

Hauser, a freshman forward, played in all 24 games with 20 starts. He averaged 7.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.

Hauser was the Hawks leading scorer in three games and leading rebounder in five contests this season. His best game came in the loss to Ferrum College on January 7th where he recorded a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Hauser was also one of two male athletes to be awarded the Donald Bishko Award for having the highest grade-point average (GPA) at the end of the fall semester. He earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Hauser, a business major at SUNY New Paltz, is a 2003 graduate of Chaminade High School.
