Denee Miggins Named Women’s Volleyball MVP

NEW PALTZ, NY — Kingston native Denee Miggins was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team at the school’s annual Athletic Awards Banquet on May 7th.

Miggins, a junior defensive specialist and libero, helped control the back row for the Hawks. She finished second on the team with 250 digs (3.16 dpg) and had at least 10 digs in 12 matches this season.

A tri-captain, Miggins recorded a season-high 27 digs in the 3-2 loss to Swathmore on August 30th. The 27 digs were the most by any Hawk in a match this season.

Miggins was also one of three female athletes to be presented with the Donald Bishko Award for having the highest grade-point average at the conclusion of the fall semester. She recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA as an elementary education major in math.

Miggins is a 2000 graduate of Kingston High School where she was a four-year member of the women’s volleyball team.
