Chris Ganje Named Men’s Volleyball MVP

NEW PALTZ, NY — Halfmoon resident Chris Ganje was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team for the second straight year at the school’s annual Athletic Awards Banquet on May 7th.

Ganje, a junior outside hitter, was one of the offensive catalysts for the Hawks this season. He led the team with 296 kills (3.89 kpg) and 35 service aces (0.46 sapg). Ganje was also second on the squad with 45 total blocks (0.59 bpg) and third with 136 digs (1.79 dpg).

Ganje was a three-time North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Metro Division Player of the Week and was named to the NECVA All-Metro Division Team.

The junior posted six double-doubles with kills and digs this season and recorded at least 20 kills in a match on six occasions. His best performance came in the 3-2 win over local rival Vassar College where he had 22 kills, 15 digs, and a .436 hitting percentage.

Ganje, a history major at SUNY New Paltz, is a 2001 graduate of Shenendehowa High School.
