Anthony Bryant Named Men’s Indoor Track and Field MVP

NEW PALTZ, NY — Norwich native Anthony Bryant was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the SUNY New Paltz men’s indoor track and field team at the school’s annual Athletic Awards Banquet on May 7th.

Bryant, a freshman sprinter and long jumper, made an immediate impact for the Hawks this season. In his collegiate debut at the Hamilton Invitational on January 17th, Bryant finished first in two events. He won the long jump with a leap of 6.14 meters and sprinted to a first place finish in the 400 meters in a time of 53.39.

Bryant ran to a second place finish in the 400 meters in 51.35 at the 2004 Indoor Track and Field State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship.

Bryant is also a member of the SUNY New Paltz outdoor track and field team where he qualified for the 400 meters and 400-meter hurdles at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship.

Bryant, a graphic design major at SUNY New Paltz, is a 2003 graduate of Gilbertsville High School where he was a three-sport athlete in track and field, basketball, and soccer.
