SUNY New Paltz Men’s Volleyball Team Sweeps New Jersey City University

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team improved to 14-7 on the season with a 3-0 sweep of New Jersey City University this evening.

The Hawks registered their second 3-0 win over the Gothic Knights this season and raised their North Eastern Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Metro Division record to 7-4.

Junior outside hitter Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) led the way for New Paltz with 15 kills and a .448 hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter Mike LaRocco (Hauppauge, NY) added 10 kills and a .381 hitting percentage. Senior middle blocker Rob Dietrich (San Jose, CA) had a block and three block assists while junior setter Jason Karpf (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) ran the Hawks offensive effectively and finished the match with 26 assists.

New Jersey City University (11-16, 3-7) was led by sophomore outside hitter Edward Sosa (Newark, NJ) who had 11 kills and nine digs. Freshman libero Carlo Edra (Edison, NJ) added 14 digs for the Gothic Knights.
