ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL — The SUNY New Paltz men’s tennis team opened the 2004 season with a pair of matches this afternoon. The Hawks began the day with a 4-3 loss to Hamilton College and then rebounded with a convincing 7-0 win over Cooper Union.
SUNY New Paltz was scheduled to play Cooper Union on Tuesday but the match was postponed due to the rain.
The Hawks will close out their Florida trip with another doubleheader on Thursday. SUNY New Paltz will play Knox College at 12:00 p.m. and Grinnell at 4:00 p.m. The Hawks were originally scheduled to face Grinnell on Monday but that match was washed out as well.

Singles: Bobby Calise (NP) defeated Darren Rogers (CU) 6-1, 6-2. Brian Palmenteri (NP) defeated Amir Shahrokhi (CU) 6-1, 6-1. Josh Greenspan (NP) defeated Andrei Simion 6-0, 6-1 (CU).
