Hawks Drop Second Game of Two-Game Set With Husson

FORT PIERCE, FL — Husson College scored three first inning runs off SUNY New Paltz starter Carrie Briscoe (Stuyvesant, NY) and came away with a 7-4 win over the Hawks this morning.

Sophomore second baseman Sara Agouab singled home a run in the top of the first to give the Braves a 1-0 lead. Briscoe faced control problems throughout the day and a pair of wild pitches in the inning led to two more Husson runs. Freshman designated hitter Stacy Wright went 2-for-3 with RBI’s in the fourth and fifth innings for the Braves who improved to 3-5 with the win.

Bricsoe, who walked nine batters in the game, suffered the loss and dropped to 1-3. The freshman went five innings and allowed five hits and seven runs.

SUNY New Paltz sophomore first baseman Liz McPartlan (Huntington Station, NY) had another two-hit day and drove in a run. Freshman second baseman Lisa Wong (Colts Neck, NJ) also collected two hits for the Hawks. SUNY New Paltz had 12 hits in the game and stranded 11 baserunners.

The two teams split the two-game series. SUNY New Paltz defeated Husson 7-5 yesterday. The Hawks are now 3-5 on the season.
