SUNY New Paltz Men’s Volleyball Team Defeats Ramapo

NEW PALTZ, NY — Junior Mike LaRocco (Hauppauge, NY) registered 16 kills and 15 digs to help lead the SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Ramapo this afternoon at Elting Gym.

LaRocco’s effort helped the Hawks raise their record to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the Metro Division of the North Eastern College Volleyball Association (NECVA). New Paltz has now won two straight league matches after beginning the schedule 0-2.

LaRocco was one of three Hawks who registered a double-double. Junior Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) had 14 kills and 11 digs and sophomore Chris Grunwald (St. James, NY) added 10 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Kevin Buggs (Tonawanda, NY) finished the match with 51 assists.

Senior Kris Fraser (Lakewood, NJ) led Ramapo with 21 kills and 17 digs. Senior Tom White (Clifton, NJ) registered 17 kills and 15 digs and sophomore Hector Rodriguez (West New York, NJ) dished out 49 assists. The Roadrunners dropped to 7-4 overall and 2-2 in the NECVA.
