SUNY New Paltz Indoor Track & Field Teams Compete at SUNYAC Championship

GENEVA, NY — The SUNY New Paltz indoor men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the SUNYAC Championships for the final time in program history. The men finished ninth among nine teams with 14 points and the women came in eighth out of nine teams with 25 points. SUNY Cortland won the men’s meet with 176 points while SUNY Geneseo took home the women’s title with 203 points.

The top two performers for the men were freshman Anthony Bryant (Norwich, NY) and junior Josh Moore (Woodburne, NY). Bryant came in second in the 400 meters with a time of 51.35 and Moore placed third in the shot put with a throw of 48 feet, ¾ inches.

The women’s team had top five finishes by four different athletes. Sophomore Musu Jackson-Buckner (Buffalo, NY) sprinted to a third place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 59.62. Junior Christina Butcher (North Salem, NY) came in fourth in the 55 meter hurdles in a time of 9.00 seconds and senior Natasha Dudar (New Paltz, NY) soared to a fourth place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 34 feet, 2 ¾ inches. Sophomore Janet Walsh (Baldwinsville, NY) rounded out the top five finishers with a fifth place result in the 3000 meters in a time of 11:08.33.
