SUNY New Paltz Men’s Volleyball Team Defeats York, 3-0, for Second Straight Win

JAMAICA, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team won its second straight road match with a 3-0 victory over York College this evening.

The Hawks registered 21 kills and had a .452 hitting percentage in a 30-18 victory in game one. New Paltz battled a tough York squad throughout the second game before coming away with a 30-26 win before closing out the match with a 30-21 win in game three.

Junior setter Jason Karpf (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) and sophomore setter Kevin Buggs (Tonawanda, NY) ran the offensive efficiently and combined for 39 assists. Freshman outside hitter Jeff Lee (Clifton Park, NY) notched a team-high eight kills along with three digs while junior Shawn Livingston (Kings Park, NY) sparkled defensively by collecting 12 digs for the second consecutive match.

New Paltz opens its home schedule and their conference (NECVA) season with a match against the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday, January 31st at 2:00 pm.
