Vassar Women’s Volleyball Team Defeats New Paltz 3-1

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Senior hitter McKenzie Johnson (Phoenix, AZ) had a season- high 27 kills and 11 digs to lead Vassar to a 3-1 victory over SUNY New Paltz.

After splitting the first two games, the Brewers reeled off a 30-21 win the third game and 30-17 victory in the fourth to clinch the match.

Junior libero Nani Loui (Honolulu, HI) had 35 digs for Vassar who improved to 7-3 on the year. Sophomore hitter Anita Stavin (Clifton Park, NY) added 11 kills and two blocks while senior hitter Anna Tabet (Eugene, OR) tacked on 10 kills and 18 digs.

New Paltz (9-14) won the second game 30-28 behind strong performances by sophomore outside hitter Andrea Kaiser (Blue Point, NY) and freshman middle hitter Carrie Briscoe (Stuyvesant, NY). Kaiser had eight kills, 13 digs and four blocks while Briscoe accounted for five kills and two blocks.

Junior defensive specialist Denee Miggins (Kingston, NY) added 13 digs for the Hawks.
