Oswego State Records 3-0 Shutout Against SUNY New Paltz Women’s Soccer Team

NEW PALTZ, NY — Sophomore forward Maureen Kasperek (Fulton, NY) scored two goals to lift Oswego State to a 3-0 win over SUNY New Paltz this afternoon.

The Lakers, who outshot the Hawks 13-5 in the first half, scored twice in the first 20 minutes. Junior midfielder Jolene Hathaway (Elizabethtown, NY) got the scoring started with an unassisted goal five minutes into the match. Kasperek scored the first of her two goals in the 20th minute when she put home a pass from a pass from senior midfielder Tizzy Murphy (Syracuse, NY).

Kasperek’s second goal came in the 59th minute and helped the Lakers improve to 7-8 overall and 4-3 in the SUNYAC. Oswego stopped a two-game skid in which they were outscored 7-0.

New Paltz junior goalie Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) made 10 saves. The Hawks dropped to 1-11-1 overall and 0-8 in the SUNYAC.
