Mazurowski Named to All-Tournament Team at SUNY-CUNY Challenge

NEW PALTZ, NY — SUNY New Paltz sophomore outside hitter Christina Mazurowski (Tonawanda, NY) was named to the all-tournament team at the SUNY-CUNY Challenge at Cortland last weekend (Oct. 17-18).

Mazurowski averaged 3.0 kills, had a .341 hitting percentage, and committed just six errors in a 132 attempts to lead the Hawks to a 4-1 record at the two-day event.

She had 16 kills, two service aces and two blocks in a 3-2 win over Lehman in the opener. Mazurowski followed that performance with eight kills, two digs and a .438 hitting percentage in a 3-0 sweep of York.

The next day, Mazurowski shined in a 3-0 loss to Elmira with eight kills, four solo blocks, and a .444 hitting percentage. She also had 12 kills and a .345 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win over Hunter and seven kills, six digs, and four solo blocks in a 3-1 victory over Baruch.

New Paltz, who has won seven of its last nine matches, is 15-15 on the season. The Hawks will host SUNYAC Eastern Division rivals Cortland, Oneonta, Plattsburgh, Potsdam, and SUNYIT this Friday and Saturday (Oct. 24-25) in Elting Gym. New Paltz, 3-2 and in third place in the SUNYAC East, is eyeing its first conference tournament appearance since 1999. The top three teams in the SUNYAC East will advance with the top three teams in the SUNYAC West to the conference tournament on Nov. 7-8 at the site of the Eastern Division champion.
