Kroening Leads Nazareth Past New Paltz

ROCHESTER, NY — Senior forward Kelly Kroening (Sanborn, NY) scored two goals to help lead Nazareth to a 4-1 victory over SUNY New Paltz this afternoon.

Kroening tallied the game’s first goal with four minutes remaining in the first half, sending the Golden Flyers into the lockeroom ahead 1-0.

Sophomore forward Danielle Gregory (Akron, NY), who helped set up the first Nazareth goal, extended the Golden Flyers advantage to 2-0 with a goal 45 seconds into the second half.

Kroening and sophomore forward Margaret Van Horne (Johnstown, NY) added goals later in the period to help Nazareth earn its first win of the 2003 season.

Sophomore attack Patricia Erikson (Massapequa Park, NY) scored her third goal in two games at the 55-minute mark to break up Golden Flyers bid for a shutout.

Junior goalie Heather Sautter (Marathon, NY) stopped three of four shots for Nazareth. Sophomore goalie Erica Engstrom (Montauk, NY) had five saves for New Paltz (1-3).
