TROY, NY — Sue McBride (Mechanicville, NY) scored at the 82:52 mark to give Russell Sage a 1-0 victory over SUNY New Paltz this afternoon.
New Paltz (0-2-1) had plenty of scoring chances and fired 15 shots on Russell Sage goalkeeper Michaela McBride (Mechanicville, NY), including a team-high five shots by freshman Allison Fliegel (New Hyde Park, NY). McBride was up to the task keeping the Hawks off the scoreboard and making eight saves in the process.
Russell Sage (3-2-1) peppered 13 shots on Hawks junior netminder Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) including seven by McBride. Fenton allowed just one shot to get by her and made five stops.
New Paltz heads to Poughkeepsie to battle Vassar College on Wednesday, September 17 at 4:00 pm.
