Davey Earns Team MVP Honors
NEW PALTZ, NY — Senior Ben Davey earned men’s basketball Most Valuable Player honors on May 7th at the SUNY New Paltz Athletic Banquet.
The 5-11 guard led the Hawks in scoring average (11.1 ppg), assists (71), free-throw percentage (.800), three-point percentage (.411), and was second on the squad in steals (49).
For his play over the course of the season, Davey was an honorable mention selection on this year’s All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Team. Davey led a New Paltz team that improved from 3-22 a year ago to 11-17 overall and 6-10 in the conference. The Hawks qualified for the SUNYAC Tournament and upset top-seeded Potsdam and fifth-seeded Brockport to advance to the conference championship game.
