Oneonta Shuts Down Hawks

ONEONTA, NY — After picking up their first win of the season this past weekend, the Hawks were shutout by the host Red Dragons of Oneonta 14-0 Tuesday.

Oneonta took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first but opened the game wide open in the second scoring 10 times for a 13-0 lead.

Nicole Gelbman and Amanda LaPolla each had two hits for the winners. Tara Hinkle drove in three runs while Sarah Place and Gelbman each drove in two.

Sandra Moxley surrendered just three hits and pitched all five innings to pick up the win.

Wendy Del Orbe (Brooklyn, NY) took the loss for the Hawks going one and 2/3 innings giving up 12 runs on five hits and walking eight.

Lisa Taub (Greenlawn, NY) tripled in the fourth inning while Colleen Powers (Monsey, NY) and Danielle Porcelli (Huntington Station, NY) each went 1-for-2.

Game two was halted in the first inning due to weather conditions.

The Hawks (1-20) will next be in action Friday and Saturday at Geneseo and Brockport for SUNYAC doubleheaders.
