Born Leads Hawks to Second Win

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY — Jen Born (Walworth, NY) pitched five and 1/3 innings in relief surrendering just two runs on five hits to lead the Hawks to their second victory of the season Monday at Skidmore College.

Born helped her cause at the plate going 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Tricia Cascio (Farmingville, NY) was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored and Nicole Potestivo (Staten Island, NY) and Danielle Zakrzewski (Flushing, NY) each went 2-for-5 with an RBI for the Hawks who improved to 2-26 with the win.

In game two, built an 8-2 lead in the third inning that the Hawks chipped away at but could not fully recover from.

New Paltz got two runs in the top of the fourth inning and one in the sixth to creep to an 8-5 deficit but were unable to get any runs in the top of the seventh.

Cascio paced the Hawks at the plate going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Kristin Ackerman (Middletown, NY) took the loss despite giving up just six hits in six innings pitched.

New Paltz ends its season 2-27 overall and 1-17 in the SUNYAC.
