NEW PALTZ — The Annual Student Research Symposium will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 2, in Coykendall Science Building Auditorium (CSB) at the State University of New York at New Paltz. The scheduled conference events include a keynote speaker, student oral presentations and a student poster session.
The day of presentations will include a keynote address by Carrie Seares, an alumna of SUNY New Paltz. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a law minor. Seares graduated summa cum laude and received the Political Science Department’s Outstanding Senior and the Chancellor’s Student Excellence Awards. She has performed research for the National Organization of Woman (NOW) Legal Defense and Education Fund, and currently serves as a legal advocate for the Urban Justice Center in New York City.
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences sponsors the Student Research Symposium for the recognition of student scholarship. This is an event in which students are acknowledged for their hard work on independent research under the supervision of a faculty member. Research papers and posters on biology, chemistry, communication, computer science, engineering, English, political science and psychology will be featured.
