NYU Defeats New Paltz

NEW YORK, NY – — In the second meeting of the season between the two schools, New York University defeated SUNY New Paltz 86-51 at the Coles Sports Center this evening.

The Hawks, who fell to 2-7 on the year, hit just 7-of-28 from the field in the first half to fall behind 42-20 at the break.

The Violets (7-2) used a balanced attack with four players scoring in double figures. Jeff Gilkerson led the way with 17 points and six rebounds while James Janeczek added 13 points and four rebounds.

Jayvard Smith was the leading scorer for the Hawks with 17 points.

NYU also defeated New Paltz 48-46 when the two schools met for the first time on December 4 at Elting Gym.
