Hawks Drop First Game of West Coast Trip

CLAREMONT, CA — New Paltz saw a nine-point deficit at the half swell to a 26-point loss to Pomona-Pitzer 72-46 in the opening game of their two-game west coast trip.

It was the first victory of the season for the Sagehens who improve to 1-7 on the year. The Hawks slip to 3-5 and have lost four straight.

Pomona-Pitzer shot 50% from the field (22 of 44) for the game and had four players in double figures led by Lindsay Hill’s (Portland, OR) 18. The Hawks, however, struggled from the field shooting just under 25% (15-61).

Maura McShane (East Rockaway, NY) led New Paltz in scoring with 16 points. Kim Weigel (Whitestone, NY) added 10.

The Hawks’ next game will be Tuesday night at the University of La Verne before returning home for a conference game against Geneseo Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
