Goldstein Named Co-MVP of SUNYAC East Division

NEW PALTZ, NY – — SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball standout Jackie Goldstein (Port Jervis, NY – Minisink Valley HS) was named the Co-Most Valuable Player in the East division of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) this afternoon.

The Hawks senior right side hitter shared the honor with Lacey Musso of Oneonta. Goldstein, who was also one of seven players named to the All-SUNYAC First Team, played in 37 of the Hawks 38 matches and averaged 3.0 kills and 0.63 blocks per game to go along with a .283 hitting percentage. Goldstein’s numbers were even better in league play where she produced 3.5 kills per game and had a .321 hitting percentage.

Her season also included all-tournament team accolades at the Skidmore Early Bird Invitational (Aug. 31), the New York University Invitational (Sept. 14) and the Oswego Invitational (Oct. 19).

Goldstein was a first-year member of the women’s volleyball team at SUNY New Paltz. From 1998-2000 she played for Division I Wagner College in Staten Island, NY.

Junior setter Jennifer Hollis (Livingston, NJ – Livingston HS) also earned post-season recognition. She was an All-SUNYAC honorable mention choice after leading the Hawks in assists (5.2) and service aces (0.5) per game. Hollis also averaged 1.8 digs per game and had a .347 hitting percentage.

The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team was 14-24 overall and 5-5 in the SUNYAC under first-year head coach Matt Giufre.
