UPPER MONTCLAIR, NJ – — Junior forward Lea Smith scored a pair of goals as Montclair State defeated SUNY New Paltz 5-0 at Sprague Field in Upper Montclair, NJ.
The Red Hawks won for the third straight time and improved to 9-3 on the year. SUNY New Paltz dropped to 3-12.
Smith scored her first goal 1:13 into the game when she knocked in a rebound shot past Hawks goalie Erica Engstrom. Montclair State then extended their lead to 2-0 four minutes later when Megan Ulicny scored off a penalty corner.
The Red Hawks added three more goals in the second half. Smith scored her second of the game at 46:25.
Montclair St. outshot SUNY New Paltz 19-5.
