Five Hawks Advance to Finals of SUNYAC Women’s Tennis Tournament

MANLIUS, NY – — Five members of the SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team will play for conference championships in the singles competition tomorrow at the 2002 SUNYAC Tournament.

The Hawks will be represented in flights two through six following strong performances in day-two of the three-day event being held at the Eastside Racquet Club in Manlius, NY.

In number two singles, Becky Sparacin used a 6-1, 6-0 win over Julie Orapello of Brockport to move into the finals.

In number three singles, unseeded Megan Crevoiserat advanced to the finals following a hard-fought 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win over Debbie Somma of Cortland.

In the number four flight, Jen Neumann earned a birth into the finals following a 6-2, 6-1 win over Nancy Matusiak of Brockport.

At number five Amie Larson advanced to the finals with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Diana Hasse of Cortland.

In number six singles Gina Ciccarelli advanced to the finals with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Pamela Katz of Oneonta.

In number one singles, Kerry Farrell who was seeded third, was eliminated following a 6-1, 6-2 loss to Laura Dorscheid of Cortland.
