NEW PALTZ — The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team recorded their second shutout in four days defeating visiting Russell Sage 2-0 this afternoon.
The Hawks scored a pair of first-half goals to raise their record to 2-4 this fall. Sophomore Lauren Pastore (Levittown, NY) put SUNY New Paltz on the board at 13:30 when she put home a pass from senior Geri Streigold (Valley Stream, NY).
The Hawks, who directed 12 first-half shots at senior goalkeeper Jennifer Kelly (Watertown, MA), increased their margin to 2-0 at 27:06 when freshman Matty Schwartz (Weston, CT) scored her first collegiate goal.
Sophomore goalie Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) stopped all 11 shots by Russell Sage to record her second shutout of the season. Kelly had six saves for the Gators who fell to 1-2-1.
