SUNY Business Institute to sponsor Competitive Intelligence and Security Conference on Sept. 19

NEW PALTZ — To assist businesses in developing a competitive advantage, the Business Institute at SUNY New Paltz will sponsor a Competitive Intelligence and Security Conference on Thursday, Sept.19 in the Student Union Building on the college campus.

Businesses today need to be current in the collection and analysis of information regarding the capabilities, vulnerabilities, and intentions of their competitors, as well as be able to keep their information secure in this technological world.

“The Business Institute was created to be an asset to the region’s businesses,” said institute co-director, Rief Kanan. “This conference is designed to bring businesspeople to our campus and institute for a productive learning and networking experience.”

The day-long conference, sponsored by the SUNY New Paltz School of Business, the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals, the American Society for Industrial Security International, and Fleet Bank will include a continental breakfast and lunch, and will end with a Q & A panel of all conference presenters.

“We hope to attract not only small business owners, but managers, executive assistants, security personnel, network administrators, and human resource managers,” said Professor Ted Clark, co-director of the Business Institute.

The highlight of the conference will be keynote speaker, John J. McGonagle, Jr. of The Helican Group. Informative workshops will also be presented by the following:
