POTSDAM — The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team won the opening game of the SUNYAC season with a 1-0 win over Potsdam Friday.
The Hawks controlled play for much of the game outshooting the Bears 12-4 but were unable to find the net. Matty Schwartz (Weston, CT) finally scored the lone goal at the 82:49 mark to lift New Paltz to the victory.
Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) made four saves in the goal for the Hawks and Trish Wickwire (Potsdam, NY) made eleven for the Bears.
