6th Ranked Cortland Grounds Women’s Lacrosse

CORTLAND — The 6th rated team in the nation showed why it’s ranking was so high Tuesday as the Cortland Red Dragons pounded New Paltz women’s lacrosse 25-2. Cortland’s Brooke VandeWalker and Elizabeth MacNabb each had five goals to lead their team while Jeanna Angotti and Julie Gerhartz each added four apiece.

The floodgates opened early as the Red Dragons got on the boards after just :22, and made it 3-0 after 1:38. The Hawks trailed 19-0 at the half and finally got on the boards at the 44:32 mark of the second half on Jillian Sheppard’s (Stony Brook, NY) goal. Megan Porter (Massapequa, NY) added the last goal of the game at 54:31 for the final 25-2 score. Goalkeeper Adrian Grasso (Oceanside, NY) made 11 saves between the pipes for the Hawks.

New Paltz will look to rebound from the loss Wednesday at home against Farmingdale. Game time is scheduled for 4:00pm.
