NEW PALTZ — Glenn Geher, assistant professor of psychology at the State University of New York at New Paltz, will present a lecture titled “Evolutionary Psychology Explained: Understanding Human Mating” at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 13 in the campus’ Honors Center, located in College Hall.”This talk is designed to explain the fundamental ideas of evolutionary psychology and clear up misconceptions people have,” said Geher. “It will also show how behavior is best understood through the natural selection processes.”
The lecture will include some of Geher’s own research about mating behaviors to illustrate the field of evolutionary psychology – a he believes is misunderstood by most people. Geher’s lecture is part of 2002 Honors Center Faculty Lecture Series, which is designed to bring together SUNY New Paltz faculty members to discuss their current research before the campus community and the wider public.
John Baugher, of the SUNY New Paltz Sociology Department, will present the next lecture in the series on Monday, March 25. It is titled “Individualism, Political Generations and Union Loyalty.”
