Men’s Tennis Finishes 2nd at New Paltz Invitational

NEW PALTZ — The New Paltz men’s tennis team hosted seven east coast schools this Saturday at the New Paltz Invitational Tournament. The Hawks wound up with three victories and finished in 2nd place.

The Hawks rolled through group play defeating Ramapo 4-1, Steven’s Tech 4-1, and Ulster County CC 5-0. In the opposing group, Oneonta ran the table beating Rutgers, Western Connecticut and Bard. Both the undefeated Hawks and Red Dragons met in the championship match to decide the winner. In doubles, Brad Breakstone (Mount Kisco, NY) and Bobby Calise (East Islip, NY) were victorious 8-1, and David Bridglall (Bronx, NY) and Josh Greenspan (North Babylon, NY) were 9-8 winners. In singles, the Red Dragons took all three matches for the 3-2 win.

The Hawks will next travel to Florida for a training trip before returning home for a 4:00 pm home match against Vassar.
