Men’s Basketball Falls One Point Short Against Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH — The New Paltz men’s basketball team, down 52-34 in the second half against Plattsburgh, used a furious 25-6 run over a seven-minute span to gain the lead. After trading baskets, the Cardinals regained the lead with 9:19 left in the game and never trailed again. Plattsburgh built a seven- point lead with 3:21 on the clock only to see the Hawks storm back again cutting the lead to one with just two seconds left. Unfortunately, the Hawks could get no closer losing by a single point 80-79.

Tim Mahon (Poughkeepsie, NY) paced the Hawks with 19 points -17 in the second half -and added 11 rebounds. Dom Fornabaio (Wappingers Falls, NY) added 17, Danny Goldberg (New Rochelle, NY) had 12, and Tom Osborne (Lynbrook, NY) had 10. Steve Tobitsch (New Canaan, CT) pulled down a game- high 12 rebounds.
