Women’s Soccer Falls to Oswego, Cortland

OSWEGO, CORTLAND — The New Paltz Women’s Soccer Team fell to Oswego (3-1) and Cortland (2-0) this weekend dropping their conference record to 2-7 and their overall record to 5-9.

Against Oswego, the Hawks fell behind by two in the first half after Laker goals from Laura Feeley and Lynn Halloran in the 17th and 20th minute. Rebecca Timerson made it 3-0 Oswego in the second half before New Paltz’s Dannielle Herring (Albany, NY) scored with 15:06 left with Therese Nordlund (Lulea, Sweden) picking up the assist. New Paltz was outshot 15-1 in the match and goalkeeper Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) made 3 saves.

Against Cortland, New Paltz held the Red Dragons scoreless in the first half but surrendered a goal early in the second half and one with 15 seconds left in the game in a 2- 0 loss. Tracy Schomske scored off a cross and Mandy DaRin off a loose ball in the box for the Red Dragons. Fenton made 14 saves in the match for the Hawks.

New Paltz returns to action Wednesday at home against Utica/Rome.
