SUNY New Paltz debates America’s war on terrorism

NEW PALTZ — The State University of New York at New Paltz will host a debate on the United States’ response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on Tuesday, Oct. 23.

The debate will be coordinated by the university’s political science and international relations department and will feature department chair Lew Brownstein and political science assistant professor Brian Schmidt.

During the debate, entitled “Debating America’s War on Terrorism: Alternative Perspectives on America’s Military Response to the Attack of September 11, 2001,” Brownstein will speak in defense of America’s policy and Schmidt will speak on the current crisis in historical perspective.

The debate, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Lecture Center 102.
