Field Hockey Loses Pair

NEW PALTZ — The Women’s Field Hockey Team was defeated twice this weekend at the hands of Geneseo and Brockport. The losses dropped the Hawks to 0-4 on the season.

On Friday, Geneseo took the lead at 15:28 on a goal from Leslie Howlett assisted by Kristin Winiewicz. The Knights made it a 2-0 margin twelve minutes later on a goal from Stephanie Powers. Geneseo finished the game with a 15-0 edge in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Elizabeth Clarke (Stone Ridge, NY) kept the game close making nine saves.

On Saturday, four different Brockport players scored goals for a 4-0 victory. Na’Lisa Rowe scored the lone goal of the first half at 21:13 on a breakaway. In the second half, Jessica Mark and Karen Iovino scored goals one minute apart giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead. Alison Broomhead rounded out the scoring off a corner as time expired.

New Paltz returns to action Tuesday at Oneonta.
