Hawks Fall In SUNYAC Lacrosse Opener

KINGSTON — Crisp passing and strong shooting helped lead Geneseo past New Paltz, 19-6, in a SUNYAC women’s lacrosse match at Dietz Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Five Knight players scored three or more goals apiece – led by Jen Turkovich and Kristin Winiewicz with four goals apiece – while junior goalkeeper Allison Buda made seven saves for her second straight victory. 2000 Kingston High graduate Carissa Trast had an assist in the contest.

Freshman sensation Megan Porter had her third two-goal game of the season for New Paltz, which got nine saves from freshman goalkeeper Liz Clarke, despite her being peppered – largely unimpeded – with 43 Geneseo shots.

Porter has now scored in each of the Hawks’ first four contests, as has university all-time leading scorer Katie Sharp, who had an assist to extend her scoring streak to nine games going back to April 18, 2000.

New Paltz is right back in action tomorrow at 11 a.m. against Brockport at Dietz.
