Volleyball Hawks Win Fifth Straight

FAIRFIELD, CONN. — SUNY New Paltz won its fifth straight men’s volleyball match, 28-30, 30-18, 26-30, 32-30, 15-13, over Sacred Heart on Thursday night at the William H. Pitt Center.

New Paltz (5-2 overall, 2-0 EIVA Odeneal), which is ranked eighth in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Men’s Division III Coaches Top 15 Poll, got another strong effort from junior transfer Beau Warren, who had a team-high 23 kills, as well as 30 assists and four blocks. Christopher Wright added 18 kills and five blocks, while Carlos Tollinche collected 16 kills for the Hawks.

New Paltz travels tonight to Rhode Island to play a 7 p.m. match at Roger Williams tomorrow, before remaining there to participate in the Roger Williams Invitational on Saturday.
