Robinson At NCAA Soccer Rules Meeting

NEW PALTZ — Today’s NCAA Men’s and Women’s Soccer Rules Committee Annual Meeting in Key Largo, Fla. begins a busy five day-stretch for SUNY New Paltz Interim Athletic Director and Men’s Soccer Coach Stuart Robinson.

Robinson is one of only nine people nationally, and one of two individuals in Division III, on the prestigious committee. He will spend the next two days discussing, planning and helping make the rules under which collegiate soccer is played.

“It’s year two of a four-year commitment being part of the governing body for all three divisions of the sport,” Robinson said. “It was an interesting experience last year, but in some ways it’s more exciting this time around, because I have a better sense of what the group does.”

Robinson, the 1996 SUNYAC Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year, completed his ninth season as head coach of the Hawks this past fall. He was named to the committee in September 1999, and attended his first committee meeting last year. He will complete his term in 2003.

On Friday, Robinson returns to the Northeast to attend a State University of New York Athletic Directors’ Meeting at the SUNY Central Offices in Albany, before traveling later that day to Buffalo’s Burt Flickinger Aquatics Center at Erie Community College for the last two days of the SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships, at which New Paltz is participating.
