NEW PALTZ — SUNY New Paltz dropped its home opener to local rival Vassar College, 15-12, 15-12, 15-12, on Tuesday night at Elting Gymnasium.
Senior Nicole Older had 11 digs and four kills while sophomore Heidi Dippel contributed six digs, three blocks and two kills in a losing effort for the (0-4) Hawks.
Junior Lauren Nishimura had five kills, seven service aces and three digs for Vassar (1-0). Teammate Kara Todeschini added 18 assists and six aces.
New Paltz goes back on the road to play in the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Play begins at 2 p.m. both days.
