NEW PALTZ — SUNY New Paltz remained winless in women’s volleyball with a 15-4, 15-12, 3-15, 15-2 loss to Montclair State on Thursday night at Elting Gymnasium.
Crystal Smith had 17 digs, Nicole Older had nine kills and newcomer Sonia Mkoloma added six kills and two blocks for New Paltz (0-9). Neely Hufnagel (nine kills, nine digs, two blocks), Sharon Kaus (29 assists, six digs, one service ace) and Ely Polanco (nine kills, four service aces, three digs, three blocks), meanwhile helped lead Montclair State (4-2) to its fourth win in its last five matches.
New Paltz is at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at 1 p.m. on Saturday for a rare tri-match, which also involves Rutgers-Newark.
