Women’s Tennis Team Wins At Home

NEW PALTZ — Sophomore Rebecca Billow won twice to help SUNY New Paltz open its home season successfully on Friday with a 6-3 win over Hunter.

It was also the (1-3) Hawks first women’s tennis win anywhere this season.

Billow first teamed with Rachel Murray to beat Mariella Diaz and Marilyn Penaco, 8-1, at second doubles, then bested Penaco again in second singles, 6-1, 6-3.

Meanwhile, fellow sophomore Jennifer Lipp didn’t drop a game in beating Diaz, 6-0, 6-0, at fourth singles, for her second straight individual victory.

New Paltz plays at regional tennis power Rensselaer at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
