Women’s Tennis Team Drops Opener

GENESEO — Wins at sixth singles and second doubles weren’t enough for SUNY New Paltz on Friday afternoon as the Hawks dropped their women’s tennis opener, 7-2, at SUNY Geneseo.

Sophomore Sarah Schreiber beat Ariana Murray, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in singles, and Goshen product Becky Sparacin teamed with Rachel Murray to beat Mara McCarthy and Jennifer Dietz, 8-6, in doubles to record New Paltz’s (0-1) two points.

The (1-4) Knights’ Gena Tallarini (first singles) and Sarah Lindner (fifth singles) won both individually and together at first doubles.
