ONEONTA — Sophomore Jennifer Lipp recorded SUNY New Paltz’s lone win as the Hawks fell to 0-3 in women’s tennis on Thursday with an 8-1 loss to SUNYAC rival Oneonta.
Lipp won an exciting three-set marathon, 6-8, 6-2, 7-4, over Becky Lane at fourth singles. Teammate Megan Crevioserat also played a three-set match, but lost, 6-2, 2-6, 6-0, to Oneonta’s Sarah Feikert at first singles.
Meanwhile, Trudy Hudson, Rachel Martin, Beth Muller, Feikert and Sarah Strauss all won at both singles and doubles for the (8-1) Red Dragons, which have won four straight matches. It was New Paltz’s third straight match against a conference school.
New Paltz plays at regional tennis power Rensselaer, which defeated Oneonta last Wednesday, at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
