New Paltz Earns Men’s Soccer Win

BUFFALO — Mario Lavacca’s goal four minutes after halftime lifted SUNY New Paltz to a 3-2 win in SUNYAC men’s soccer on Saturday afternoon.

Stephen Ferrara scored for the second time in two days, and John D’Eredita also scored, as New Paltz (2-9 overall) improved to 2-4 in conference play. Freshman goalkeeper Michael Vaughn-Cherubin made four saves to record his first collegiate victory.

New Paltz next plays in the 7 p.m. nightcap of a day-night Hawk soccer doubleheader at Rensselaer on Wednesday. The New Paltz women face the Red Hawks first at 4 p.m.
