Men Fourth, Women Eighth At St. Michaels Meet
WILLISTON, VT. — The SUNY New Paltz men’s cross-country team placed fourth (149 points) among 13 teams, and the women’s team was eighth (180 points) among 10 teams at the St. Michaels Invitational at the Catamount Family Center on Saturday.
Phil Goodwin was the Hawks’ top finisher (21st place) in 30:38. Chris Tuttle (30:51) and Matt Brown (30:52) finished together in 25th and 26th place, and Justin Lee (37th, 31:26), Greg Sautner (40th, 31:41), Garrett Beers (44th, 31:51) and Dan Holton (45th, 31:52) also finished.
In the women’s race, Rebecca Demeri finished 28th in 23:34, Cheryl Yanek took 31st place, and Alison Tracy (23:44) and Kristi Markwalter (23:51) were 33rd and 34th, respectively. Dawson Gerhardt (42nd, 24:35), Crista Szymanski (44th, 25:02) and Lauren Corvino (46th, 25:32) also raced for the Hawks.
The University of Southern Maine took the men’s title with 28 points, while Plattsburgh won the women’s meet with 25 points.
New Paltz competes locally next Saturday at the Vassar Invitational, which begins at 12 p.m.
